How Our Adelaide Hills Physiotherapists Can Help
Our physiotherapists support people to improve their movement, strength, balance, coordination and overall physical function. We work with adults living with disability, neurological conditions, injuries and other complex health needs. Support is tailored to each person’s goals, whether they want to move more confidently, participate in everyday activities, maintain their independence or improve their overall wellbeing.
-
Our physiotherapists provide specialised rehabilitation for people with a wide variety of diagnoses. This includes conditions such as spinal cord injury, stroke, acquired brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, Motor Neurone Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, chromosomal disorders, intellectual disabilities, and amputees. We work with you step-by-step to help achieve your short and long-term goals.
-
Improving your balance can increase your capacity to transfer and mobilise, ultimately supporting greater independence in the home and community. People who have reduced balance are at much higher risk of falls which can lead to long term injury and disability. We work with you to improve your balance whilst implementing strategies to ensure your home environment is safe and the risk of falls is reduced.
-
Our physiotherapists incorporate strength training into physiotherapy to build strength, improve stability, and enhance mobility. We conduct thorough assessments of your strength so that we can tailor exercises to your individual needs. We can also create home exercise programs you can complete in the comfort of your own home.
-
Our Physiotherapists can work with you to improve the safety of your gait (walking). They will thoroughly assess your mobility and determine whether you may benefit from a gait aid such as a walking stick or walking frame. They will measure and fit the aid to your individual needs and teach how to safely use it.
-
We can assess your ability to transfer and mobilise and develop a manual handling plan. This plan can be used to guide your formal or informal supports so that they can best support your daily needs. We also offer manual handling training.
-
Assistive technology is any specialised equipment that enhances the learning, working and daily living for people with disabilities. Our physiotherapists work with you to determine whether you may benefit from any assistive technology.
-
Our physiotherapists provide evidence-based guidance to help manage pain. This may include advice regarding ways to self-manage your symptoms and the formulation of a plan to get back to activities you enjoy. We can also assess for pain relief assistive technologies such as a TENS machine and provide education so that they are implemented effectively and safely.
-
Our physiotherapists focus on enhancing cardiorespiratory fitness and endurance through targeted exercises. By strengthening heart and lung function, they help individuals improve aerobic capacity, respiratory strength, and overall endurance. This supports clients in managing health conditions effectively, promoting better performance in daily activities.

What to Expect at Your First Physiotherapy Appointment
Your physiotherapist will take time to understand your health, daily activities, current challenges and the goals that matter to you. Depending on your needs, the appointment may include an assessment of your movement, strength, balance, walking, transfers, pain or physical endurance.
Because the assessment occurs in your own environment, your physiotherapist can also consider the practical challenges you experience at home and in your community.
We will discuss our recommendations with you and develop a personalised plan. This may include ongoing physiotherapy, a home exercise program, equipment recommendations, manual handling support or collaboration with your family, support workers and other health professionals.
Mobile Physiotherapy in Your Home or Community
Physiotherapy in Your Home
Home visits can be particularly helpful when disability, reduced mobility, fatigue, accessibility or transport makes travelling to a clinic difficult. Your therapist can tailor assessment and therapy to your actual home environment, daily routine and available equipment.
Physiotherapy in the Community
Appointments may also take place in an appropriate community location when this supports your goals. This could include practising mobility, accessing local facilities or building confidence participating in community activities.
Via telehealth
Where clinically appropriate, we can provide physiotherapy consultations through a secure video call. Telehealth may be useful for exercise reviews, education, planning and follow-up appointments when an in-person visit is not required.
